This book was terrible. It sounded like it would be interesting from the synopsis, but it fell flat. Flatter than flat. The actual storyline had so much potential, but the execution was super flawed. The fact that a grown man had people calling him "Daddy" was the first red flag for me. I thought it would be some kind of kinky sex thing between him and the woman he was with, but it wasn't so it was just weird. I didn't like either one of the main characters. I don't know what it was about Wendy's personality, but I found myself not particularly caring whether she got her happily ever after or not. I'm glad this book was short because all I wanted was for it to be over. The thing that bothered me was how sometimes the characters would be doing one thing, and then the very next paragraph, they've started doing something completely different with no warning or transition. This made those random sex scenes seem awkward because they seriously came out of nowhere. I was not impressed by this book and all and I'll definitely think twice before I read anything else by this particular author.
Part of me wanted to hate this book, I really did. I mean, the characters were coarse and crude - it's pretty bad when the cashier at a "Cumbie's," leaves you, broken down on the side of the road, during white-out conditions, to DIE! Still, I couldn't quit reading it. There were other issues that kept interfering with my reading enjoyment - the blizzard conditions, kept my mind going. Lost power during the night, yet in the morning,( blizzard still raging) full breakfast, and he took the last K-cup? Gas stove, sure, but a petrol - powered Keurig? Believe me, if you lose electricity during the night during a blizzard, in N.H. and the blizzard is still raging, in the morning, the power does not mysteriously come back on. You might not see it for days. Okay, you might say - generator. In an apartment? Or the apartment building,had a backup generator. In a small, podunk town? NOPE! The ballroom was full and all the press was there? The blizzard still raging? NOPE! See, the hotel will fill up, AFTER the blizzard, with people who have NO electricity. DANG, I hate that this book, made my mind go to all these places! By the clues laid out, Wendy and Daryl were probably 27-28 years old. NOPE! Too young, to be a state senator. Yet, I kept on reading. Speaking of Daryl - billionaire? Must be pretty smart. How many times did he have to hear, and from how many mouths - money laundering and the MOB, before he got a clue, that something was amiss. Still, I read on. This book made me laugh. I'm not so sure that the some of the issues, were suppose to be funny. Buying her mother a trailer park? A BILLIONAIRE? Or that Daryl and Wendy reunited in a Cumberland Farms. I thought that was hysterical, but that was probably LOST, on many of the readers. I read it and I didn't hate it. When there was a hint that there may be a sequel, I'll probably read that, and not hate it, too.
Senator Daryl Dinero, aka Daddy, needs a fake fiance/wife. While he is in a conference at his hometown, he has reunited again with the small-town girl that he once dated, Wendy. Wendy is having the worst day ever. Her boyfriend dumps her and kicks her out of their apartment. She is running late to work while trying to score some free food because she is broke. She comes across Daryl, someone she once dated in high school. He broke her heart when he left for the Navy. Now that he is back, they can't deny this hot chemistry between them. But he has a fake fiance/wife that his campaign manager found for him. He still cares about Wendy and she still cares about him. But he can't go messing around with Wendy if he has someone else. Will she find out about his fake fiance/wife? Would she be okay with her role? Would Wendy's day get better? Could they ever be together? Y'all should read this find out!!!!!
This is kind of a short novella. I have to say Wendy is kind of in a hot mess, Daryl is the opposite of that. But they have this past together, they clearly care about each other. I love how different they are. I think Wendy shakes us Daryl's perfect little world. Daryl helps Wendy without being totally like a knight in shining armor. She isn't some kind of damsel that needs saving, but he does offer her some assistance. I love that they were once together and now they meet again in different points of their lives. This is a fun, short read.

This is a fun, sexy read that kept me entertained and intrigued from beginning to end with interesting characters and a smartly written plot. I liked Daryl Dinero, handsome billionaire who has set his sights on a political career and his interactions with the other characters especially sassy Wendy LeCroix who he had dated in high school. Fans of billionaire romance should add this to their must-read list. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
